The California Academy of Sciences is a renowned scientific and educational institution dedicated to exploring, explaining, and sustaining life. Based in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park, it is home to a world-class aquarium, planetarium, and natural history museum, as well as innovative programs in scientific research and education—all under one living roof.
More than a Museum
From launching our one-stop shop for at-home content with Academy @ Home to Academy Chief of Science Dr. Shannon Bennett sharing her knowledge on the novel coronavirus, the Academy has continued to offer entertainment, educational materials, and expertise to people throughout the world. Despite our doors being temporarily closed, we continue to be more than a museum.
While the museum is temporarily closed, NightLife continues to share iconic after hours programming with every Thursday night! During Virtual NightLife events, we’ll bring you an eclectic mix of science, music, and art, and when NightSchool is in session, we’ll take deeper dives into a single science-related theme. Join us this upcoming Thursday at the Academy’s YouTube channel and Facebook page!
Frolic with our penguins, see a coral spawning, soar with our stingrays, dive in our coral reef, or visit the Farallones via live webcam.
